Brian F.P. Murphy, K.C.
Partner
Brian Murphy is a seasoned King’s Counsel litigator with extensive experience in personal injury, employment, and commercial litigation. Brian has represented clients at all levels of court in New Brunswick, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland & Labrador, and the Federal Court of Canada, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Fluent in both French and English, he is a proud member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada, and the Law Society of New Brunswick, and a former President of the Moncton Area Lawyers’ Association.
Brian holds a B.A. from Dalhousie University, an LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick, and an LL.M. from Osgoode Hall Law School. Appointed as King’s Counsel in 2015, he is recognized for his legal expertise and commitment to his community.
Beyond his legal career, Brian has made significant contributions to public service. As a former City Councillor and Mayor of Moncton, he spearheaded major city projects, including the development of the water treatment facility, the construction of the Fourplex and Sportsplex, and the city’s designation as Canada’s first officially bilingual city. His leadership earned him the Prix Dialogue, the Phoenix Award from the U.S. EPA, and the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters from France.
Brian also served as Member of Parliament for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe from 2006 to 2011, holding key roles such as Atlantic Caucus Chairman, Critic for Democratic Reform, and Critic for Justice. He was inducted into the Order of Moncton in 2020 and recently served as President of the New Brunswick Liberal Party.
Currently, Brian is active with the Capitol Theatre Foundation, La Theatre l’Escaouette Fundraising Campaign, and the Peter McKee Foodbank Fundraising Drive.
Outside of his professional life, Brian enjoys travelling, early Irish folk music, French cooking, and exploring fine red wines. He dreams of traversing the Panama Canal and visiting Machu Picchu. A dedicated family man, Brian is married with three daughters and is a passionate fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Alix Coulombe
Lawyer
Alix Coulombe has been a member of Forté Law Droit since 2023. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Criminology from the Université de Moncton before completing her Juris Doctor at the Université de Moncton. She was called to the New Brunswick Bar in June 2024.
Alix served as the Coordinator of the Pro Bono Students Canada program and participated in several moot competitions, including the McKelvey Cup, where she received the award for Best Cross-Examination. She also completed an internship with the New Brunswick Court of Appeal, where she was mentored by the Chief Justice of New Brunswick, the Honourable Marc J.C. Richard.
Since beginning her practice, Alix has appeared before the Provincial Court of New Brunswick, the Court of King's Bench of New Brunswick, and the Federal Court of Canada. She has also represented clients before courts in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, giving her valuable advocacy experience across the Maritimes.
Alix's practice focuses on family law, personal injury, and civil litigation. She is committed to providing practical, client-focused legal services and believes that every client deserves to understand the legal process. She is dedicated to offering clear and transparent advice, and guiding her clients through every stage of their legal matter with professionalism and compassion.
Outside the office, you will find Alix spending time with her family, her friends, and her dog, making her free time not see free.

Kaitlyn Arsenault
Lawyer
Kaitlyn Arsenault has been a member of Forté Law Droit since 2025. She obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Moncton and holds a Licentiate in Civil Law from the University of Ottawa.
Prior to pursuing her legal studies, Kaitlyn completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Saint Francis Xavier University. She was called to the New Brunswick Bar in June 2026. Driven by a strong commitment to advocacy and access to justice, Kaitlyn has taken part in various meaningful initiatives.
As a key contributor to the Montreal Employment Law Information Project, she developed accessible resources to educate students about their workplace rights. Through Pro Bono Students Canada, she helped organize free family law information sessions alongside a local lawyer, equipping community members with practical knowledge about their legal options and available resources. She also gained valuable hands-on experience with Legal Aid Quebec, where she worked closely with clients on family law, housing and residential tenancy disputes, and employment law. Kaitlyn has gained advocacy experience appearing before the Provincial Court of New Brunswick, the Court of King’s Bench of New Brunswick, and the courts of Prince Edward Island. This experience has allowed her to develop a strong foundation in courtroom advocacy and litigation.
Born in Moncton and raised in Montreal, Kaitlyn is excited to return to her roots and establish her legal career in the community where she was born. Her practice encompasses personal injury, civil litigation, family law, and estates. With extensive experience working directly with clients, Kaitlyn brings a thoughtful and practical approach to each file.
She is committed to making the legal process clear and accessible while taking the time to understand her clients’ individual circumstances and provide guidance tailored to their needs. Kaitlyn values building strong relationships with her clients and strives to provide responsive, professional, and effective legal services.
Outside of her practice, Kaitlyn enjoys discovering new restaurants, attending spinning classes, reading, and travelling.
Fiona Mitton
Senior Paralegal
Fiona Mitton has been a member of Forté Law since 2025 and is working as a Bilingual Senior Paralegal for the firm. Originally from Saint John, New Brunswick, Fiona Relocated to Moncton, New Brunswick in 2023 to build her career in the field of law and gain new experiences. She graduated from the Paralegal/ Legal Assistance program in 2023 at Oulton College.
As a Paralegal, Fiona works closely with our attorneys to ensure every case is handled with care, accuracy, and efficiency. She helps prepare legal documents, assist with trial preparation, organize case files and conduct research.
By managing the details and deadlines behind the scenes, she allows our attorneys to focus on strategy and advocacy, ensuring our clients receive thorough, timely, and professional service at every stage of their matter.
Outside of the office, Fiona prefers to relax at home reading a book or focusing on her love for the arts. She occasionally makes the trip to her hometown to visit friends and family.
Onajite Okposio
Articling Student
Onajite Okposio is an articling student at Forté Law Droit, where she is developing her practice in litigation, employment law, and personal injury. She obtained her LL.B in Nigeria, where she was called to the Nigerian Bar in November 2019.
Before pursuing law in New Brunswick, Onajite brought diverse experience spanning oil & gas, banking and insurance, and the Canadian Public Service.
Since joining Forté Law Droit, Onajite assists with matters before the Court of King's Bench of New Brunswick, including wrongful dismissal claims, personal injury and civil tort litigation, and general civil pleadings. She works closely with the firm's lawyers to prepare pleadings, conduct legal research, and support clients through each stage of their matter.
Onajite is committed to providing clear, practical guidance to clients navigating difficult legal circumstances, and takes pride in preparing thorough, well-researched work on every file.
Outside the office, Onajite enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids, travelling, and trying out new recipes.
Kayla Akerley
Law Student
Kayla Akerley joined Forté Law in 2026 as a Law Student. Originally from Grand Falls, New Brunswick, she relocated to Moncton in 2022 to pursue her studies. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a minor in Criminology, from the Université de Moncton in 2024, and is currently completing her Juris Doctor at the same institution.
Fluent in both English and French, Kayla is committed to providing attentive, client-focused service to everyone she works with. She has a particular interest in criminal law, family law, and tort law, and looks forward to broadening her knowledge and gaining hands-on experience across all areas of legal practice as her career develops.
She is committed to supporting clients through every stage of their legal matter with care and diligence by offering thoughtful and attentive guidance. Outside the office, you can find Kayla staying active through sports such as swimming and skating, enjoying a good book or taking a walk in nature
Lauren Somerville
Administrator
Lauren Somerville serves as the Receptionist at the firm, where she is often the first point of contact for clients and visitors.
With a warm, professional, and approachable demeanor, she is dedicated to creating a positive and welcoming experience from the moment clients walk through the door or make contact with the office.
In addition to managing the front desk, Lauren plays an integral role in supporting the firm's day-to-day administrative operations. She coordinates appointments, manages communications, assists with document preparation, and helps ensure that daily workflows run smoothly and efficiently.
Known for her exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and dependable work ethic, Lauren is committed to maintaining a seamless office environment that allows both clients and the team to receive the highest level of service.
